Glynn Burrows of Norfolk Tours- The Person Behind the business

Glynn Burrows is a self proclaimed true “Norfolk Dumpling”, with roots going back in this fine county, to the Sixteenth century.  Having been fascinated with family and local history since childhood, it is one of his proudest boasts to say that all of his direct ancestors so far discovered, lived within 50 miles of where he lives today!

Having trained as a chef working in several places, including France, he married a Norfolk “gal”, settled in Gressenhall and has worked in several different areas, including an abattoir, an office and in the care of the disabled.  The family tree has grown, with two, now adult, children and he is especially thrilled to have new twigs too, with two beautiful little granddaughters! 

Now Glynn is a self-employed historian and offers bespoke tours of East Anglia and beyond. He always enjoys showing people around the places their ancestors knew and making real emotional connections for them and the thing he loves most is making his customers cry. 

Most of his guests are people wanting to find out more about their own family history but he has also taken several professors, lecturers and writers around to places for their research.  He writes for several magazines and online publications, “appears” on an American internet radio show as their English Correspondent and is in the process of writing several local history books. Glynn is also the Chairman and Director of social enterprise; Buy Local Norfolk, an ideal pairing! 

Norfolk Tours’ “business as usual” caters to guests’ demands by delivering tailored tours with everything arranged for them, from airport arrival to departure.  All they need to do is get to England!
